砂拉越美里吴氏宗亲会简史
华族移居美里人口，随着时间的步伐，地方的发展而增加，为求和谐共处，前辈先贤纷纷创立各自族群的团体，以便联络情谊，照顾族群的福利，解决族群的困境，以谋地方的平稳发展和进步。
一九八零年，吴氏宗亲会在美里立足，为数也不少；平素各自谋生，甚少联络，散居各处，遇上困难，发生问题，投诉无门，束手无策，烦恼万千。宗亲先贤锦吉、英文、清渊、永万等，认为必须顺应时势，发起组织宗亲会，来照顾宗亲们，舒解宗亲们所遭遇的各种困境，于是开始筹组工作。选出绵庆为主席，副主席石松，秘书元康，总务清渊，委员：永万、永大。负责宣传组会宗旨，征收会员，草拟章程，申请注册，筹募经费，群策群力，分工合作，积极推行，完成了筹组的工作，奠下千秋大业的基础。
一九八一年三月八日选出首届理事，由英文出任主席领航和理事们继续处理未完成的工作。租赁美里海唇街茂兴大厦第三楼为本会会所，作为处理会务的中心。
一九八二年起，金福出任次届主席，带领理事们为本会服务至一九八四年，在其任内二月中，本会的社团申请注册获得正式批准，而成合法的社团。随后即筹备宗亲会成立周年庆典，编印纪念特刊事宜。研讨颁发会员儿女学业成绩奖励金，定于以后每年会员大会日或在周年庆典会时，颁发此项奖励金。周年纪念庆典纪念特刊编印，选出金添为名誉顾问，美禄、云生、芳来、英文、金雄、克量、进钦、国良、仁浩、石松、华奖等为顾问，主席清渊，秘书绵庆，副秘书素贞，财政永万，总务益生，副总务吉宁，布置清华，副布置荣章，招待国平，副招待燕凤，司仪元康，余兴节目锦吉，副秀维，电器音响焕新，特刊绵庆、素贞、清渊、元康。
首部特刊因本会成立，历程浅短，尚在初生阶段，资料不多，但记载的创会史迹都有值得参考的宝贵资料。

一九九二年改选，清渊接棒主席职，开始借用永万办事处，做为理事会议所；小节日活动如中秋节，则借用克量或永万住家进行庆祝。后来又改在清渊住家庆祝，同时也把理事会议在其住家举行。而较大型的集会如会员大会、祖公诞、新春团拜等则在餐厅或酒店举行。
自置会所是宗亲们创会之始就有的愿望，也是历届领导层所关心的事，只因经济问题，终究不敢向前跨出一步，就这样日复一日，月复一月，年复一年，搁置整整十九、二十年之久。至二零零三年亚辐出任主席，先把理事会议地点改在其住家，并作为处理会务的所在地，后又设立祖先灵位，每年祖公诞召集会员宗亲举行祭祖仪式，以深化宗亲慎终追远，弘扬祖先谦让之美德。
时代的进步，日新月异。社会的趋势，社团之间的关系，组织的改进，会务的扩展工作，须要青年团和妇女组来协助母会推动，以锻炼和培养将来母会接班人，免于后继无人之忧。本会遂于二零零四年，同时成立了青年团和妇女组，分别由建平和秀维领导，展开联谊活动，加强各属姓氏之间的交流，文娱体育活动的观摩，促进友谊。资助社会慈善，筹募捐款，救济灾黎等服务社会的工作做出了贡献。
有关购置会所事开始在理事会议上多次提出研讨，最后所有理事一致认为在没有会所的时段对本会会务发展造成的影响，确不能再拖延下去，即行组织购置会所筹委会，推选亚辐为主席兼财政，秘书福艺，总务国良，助理建平、清渊、青龙、贵茶、志伟、美燕等进行工作。适逢此时珠芭五号路，一间商业店（1416号）业主正要出售马币廿五万，正合本会预定的数额，谈妥之后从本会历年累积的存款六万多元中拨出五万做定购金，其余的等手续办完移交时一次付清。
会所购成还要里外装修、髹漆、家私设备、手续费等不敷之数约在三十五万以上，这笔款项必须向宗亲们征求捐助，于是在筹委会主席领导下马不停蹄地逐户登门造访，劝捐获得宗亲的热烈支持，慷慨解囊输捐，成绩不错。可是并未得到所需求的数目，随后得自砂州第一副首长兼农业现代化及工业发展部丹斯里拿督巴丁宜陈康南医生，砂州能源绿色科技及水务部拿督陈华贵律师的协助和砂拉越人联党的资助，马来西亚吴氏宗亲会总会长以及国内同宗亲属和其他宗属会宗亲的赞助，本会永久名誉顾问孔环宗长的大力支持捐助，才能及时付清业主，完成移交。
募捐所得付清购价后，所剩无几，于是再行第二轮输捐装修费，还向本会一位顾问借得马币二万元免息贷款，以付装修和手续费，完成装修的工作，会所内的家私、用具，宗祠的祖宗金身，均来自本会宗亲的捐献，至此总算全部完工。
